Corey Haselhuhn

Corey “Sleddy” Haselhuhn grew up on the shoreline of Lake St Clair, where he was introduced to the sport of angling at a very young age. In his early teens he began tying flies, and learning how to cast.  With more than a decade under his belt chasing fish avidly with a fly rod in his hand, he has built a lifestyle around warm-water species. His fly fishing travels have taken him everywhere from Alaska, the Florida keys, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, and northern Wisconsin. Corey enjoys chasing everything that swims with a fly, with carp and musky being two of his favorites.

His care and patience is second to none!  The greatest gift in his angling career has been the ability to share his knowledge and experiences with others. Being able to pass along his true “passion” in life is his ultimate goal. He believes fly fishing has no set boundaries and should be fun and available to anyone regardless of where they come from.

James Hughes
Born and raised in Michigan, James has always had a passion for fishing. At age 10 his parents bought him a fly tying kit and a fly rod. It didn’t take long before James was catching smallmouth on the fly in the Raisin River near his home. He has a fondness for warm water species of all kinds, but especially pike, smallmouth and carp. James also enjoys swinging for steelhead whenever they are available.

After moving to Ypsilanti in 2008 for college, James began fishing the Huron River every chance he could. While he finds smallmouth bass a joy to fish for, he is truly a carp enthusiast. Fishing nearly every day, James honed his angling skills for carp and has truly gotten to know the fish, their moods, and their hangouts.

James has a degree in Biology from Eastern Michigan University and currently lives in Ypsilanti, MI. Outside of guiding, James spends his free time hanging out at the fly shop, tying flies, and fishing with his fiancé, Amanda.

Jay Wisnosky
Jay has over 10 years experience teaching fly fishing lessons and 7 guiding. Growing up in northeast Pennsylvania he was surrounded by limestone streams and spring creeks, and in his teens fell in love with fly fishing. During graduate school, he landed his first job in a fly shop at the Chicago Orvis store in 2002 and taught city slickers the art of fly fishing. His Midwest adventures included chasing trout, steelhead and salmon along the tributaries of Lake Michigan and the Wisconsin and Michigan interiors. After three years, he returned to PA and became a guide, where he hosted trips on the Lehigh, Delaware, and Susquehanna Rivers and in the Cumberland and Lehigh valleys.

His love for taking fish on the fly is only superseded by his desire to share his knowledge and passion with the fly fishing novice. Be it in the fly fishing classroom or behind the oars, Jay takes pride in delivering an enjoyable and productive experience for all. Jay and his wife Erica live just a short walk from the Huron River in Dexter, MI.
