Hughes’ Mini Fleein' Cray (Locally Tied)

James Hughes Mini Fleein Cray is what we reach for when conditions require more of a finesse presentation. Much like the Original Fleein Cray the swimming action of this fly elicits savage strikes from a wide range of predatory fish. With the use of color blending, materials with maximum movement, and its seductive swimming action this pattern straight gets it done. When rigged and fished properly the Mini Fleein Cray has an absurd amount of action with multiple trigger points. Simply put, BASS LOVE CRAYS!  And this one swims like no other.

This pattern fishes best on an intermediate line however we’ve had great success fishing it during the low water conditions on floating lines. When fishing a floating line experiment by adding a small split shot on your leader or within the tie in loop for quick surface penetration. The Mini Fleein Cray is best fished on a 6 or 7wt rod. For best results fish it on a 45 down with intermittent sharp strips, don’t forget to pause and let it hang! A must for any serious river angler’s arsenal.
