Megabass Pop-X

Introduced in 1996, the Megabass POP-X breathed new life into the old-style popper concept, adding a unique gill system and an attention to detail that immediately set this lure apart. While the carefully crafted contours and hand-finished paint job draw the eye, the real magic lies within the Megabass original Side-Stepping Balancer (PAT.) system. This patented technology allows the popper to transform into a walking-style bait with short twitches of slack line, utilizing a fixed tungsten weight at the tail and a spherical tungsten balancer towards the front that moves side-to-side.

This internal mechanism channels the weight’s movement laterally, combining the spitting action of a traditional popper with a truly unique rolling-dog-walk action. Unlike conventional poppers that only splash, the patented gill system features two slits that allow water to pass through, creating a more organic surface disturbance. Additionally, the mouth is precision-engineered to maximize spitting distance with every twitch, resulting in considerable water displacement and a lifelike presentation.

For best results, twitch the lure so that it moves about three inches at a time. At this pace, it will spit water approximately 10 inches, perfectly mimicking the impression of a wounded baitfish. This versatile topwater bait is particularly effective during early mornings and cloudy days. For maximum performance, we suggest fishing the lure around grass beds, points, or down shoreline cover to trigger aggressive strikes from predatory fish.
